Common Ground Health hosts 20th Annual 'A Call to Women of Color' gathering at Genesee Valley Park

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Common Ground Health hosted the 20th Anniversary Social Gathering of "A Call to Women of Color" today, Saturday, September 12th, bringing hundreds of area residents together at the Genesee Valley Park Roundhouse Pavilion.


The free, open-to-the-public event ran from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, celebrating two decades of empowering women of color and promoting health equity across the Rochester region.


Built around the core founding message—"When Women are Healthy, our villages are Healthier"—the afternoon featured a full schedule of interactive programming, community fellowship, and wellness initiatives.


Key features of the 20th-anniversary celebration included:

* **Health & Wellness:** Free onsite health screenings, wellness information, and community health resources.

* **Programming:** Live performances, guest speakers, and discussions centered on uplifting Black women and families.

* **Community Fellowship:** Free admission, shared meals, and networking opportunities for women and local families.


Founded two decades ago by Jackie Dozier, Director of Community Health and Well-Being, the initiative continues to focus on addressing health disparities, encouraging self-care, and building supportive networks throughout Monroe County.
