A heavily armed police presence has surrounded a residential property on LaSalle Street following a midday shooting incident that triggered an active barricaded suspect situation.
Emergency operations began at approximately 11:10 AM today when multiple 911 callers reported a volley of shots fired along the residential corridor. Rochester Police patrol units swarmed the neighborhood and immediately established a multi-block containment perimeter. Officers quickly identified the source of the gunfire as a residence located at 18 LaSalle Street.
The scene escalated rapidly into a high-risk standoff as the individual or individuals inside refused to comply with initial orders to exit the property. Members of the RPD Tactical Unit and crisis negotiators have deployed to the scene, establishing a secure line around the home. Tactical officers utilizing a vehicle loudspeaker system can be heard repeatedly shouting commands into the structure, ordering the occupants, "Come out with your hands up!"
Specialized units remain locked in a standoff at the residence as investigators work to determine the exact number of suspects inside and confirm if anyone sustained injuries during the initial gunfire. Nearby residents have been instructed by law enforcement to shelter in place, and all through traffic on LaSalle Street has been completely blocked off. The situation remains highly fluid and dangerous. Additional details will be released as the scene develops.
