ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Baden Park was packed with high energy again this Sunday as Rochester’s weekly "Hood 2 Hood" basketball tournament took the courts for another round of highly competitive community matchups.
The tournament is a foundational element of the city's ongoing Stop the Violence initiative. By leveraging the universal language of basketball, the event is intentionally designed to bridge deep-seated divides, foster community unity, and establish a consistent, safe, and positive environment for the city's youth and families during the summer months.
This summer, the tournament’s ambitious format is successfully challenging long-standing skepticism about neighborhood rivalries.

"We take 16 different teams from 16 different sides and breakdown barriers, they say we couldn’t," organizers emphasized, pointing to the profound impact of uniting players from across every corner of the city on a single court.
The weekly tournament has grown into a major community staple, drawing large crowds of local families, passionate fans, and local food vendors to Baden Park every single week. More than just a athletic competition, the event serves as an ongoing platform for community mentorship, peace-building, and local engagement.
The action continues next Sunday at Baden Park.
