Assemblymember Demond Meeks has officially announced his campaign for reelection, seeking a fourth term to represent the 137th Assembly District, which includes portions of the City of Rochester and the Town of Gates.
A former labor organizer, Meeks is centering his 2026 platform on housing stability, economic justice, and increased funding for the Rochester City School District. The announcement follows a 2025 legislative session where Meeks secured 30 million dollars for community healthcare initiatives and youth mentorship programming across the district.
Entering the race ahead of the June 23rd primary election, Meeks remains focused on addressing the rising cost of living for working families. His legislative priorities for the upcoming term include expanding legal protections for tenants, supporting first-time homebuyers, and driving state resources toward grassroots violence prevention and neighborhood stabilization.
