A dirt bike operator is recovering in stable condition at an area hospital after a severe afternoon collision with an automobile directly in front of the Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM today at the busy intersection of Exchange Boulevard and West Broad Street. Rochester Police patrol units rushed to the scene following emergency 911 reports of a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle with a rider down. Upon arrival, responding officers located an adult male dirt bike rider lying in the roadway suffering from severe, heavy bleeding caused by the impact.
Emergency medical personnel performed immediate field stabilization maneuvers at the scene before rushing the victim to Strong Memorial Hospital for urgent trauma care. Medical officials have since confirmed that despite the severity of the initial injuries, the rider's condition has stabilized.
The operator of the passenger vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene immediately following the crash and cooperated fully with responding traffic investigators. RPD officers cordoned off the intersection for nearly an hour, redirecting afternoon commuter traffic to allow the accident reconstruction team to document the scene and clear the wreckage. RPD command staff noted that the investigation remains ongoing, and no determinations have been made regarding traffic citations or criminal charges.
