Rochester Police are investigating a shooting that left a teenager injured late Wednesday evening on the city's northeast side.

Officers responded to the intersection of Dejonge Street and Remington Street just before 10:30 PM following multiple ShotSpotter activations and emergency calls reporting gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, patrol units located a 19-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was treated at the scene by arriving emergency medical personnel before being transported via ambulance to an area hospital. Authorities have since confirmed that his injuries are considered non-life-threatening, and he remains in stable condition.

The initial phase of the investigation has encountered significant roadblocks. RPD investigators noted that both the victim and several individuals present at the scene during the incident are currently providing very little information or details regarding the circumstances leading up to the gunfire.

A large police presence remained on Dejonge Street overnight as technicians from the Central Investigation Division cordoned off the area to look for ballistic evidence, map the scene, and canvas the neighborhood for exterior surveillance footage. The roadway is expected to remain completely closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic for at least another hour while the active scene is processed. No suspects are currently in custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.
