28th Annual Clarissa Street Reunion celebrates historic neighborhood, community roots, and jazz legacy
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Neighbors, families, and visitors gathered in Rochester’s Southwest quadrant today for the 28th Annual Clarissa Street Reunion, honoring the rich culture, history, and musical heritage of the historic Third Ward.
Organized by Clarissa Street Legacy, the annual festival ran from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM along Clarissa Street, spanning from Troup Street to Samuel McCree Way.
The reunion featured live entertainment across three designated performance stages:
* Jazz Stage (Clarissa St. & Troup St.): Celebrating the neighborhood’s legacy as a renowned regional hub for jazz musicians and nightlife in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s.
* R&B Stage (Clarissa St. & Samuel McCree Way): Featuring local artists, live bands, and contemporary performances.
* Gospel, Poetry & Song Stage (Clarissa St. & Adams St.): Showcasing community vocalists, spoken word, and inspirational performances.
In addition to live music, festivalgoers enjoyed a wide range of local food vendors, merchandise displays, historical exhibits, and family-friendly activities.
First held in 1996, the Clarissa Street Reunion continues to serve as an enduring celebration of neighborhood ties, cultural pride, and community resilience.
