41-year-old Rochester man charged with attempted murder following Lyell Avenue incident

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A joint response by Rochester Police and New York State Police led to the arrest of a 41-year-old local man on attempted murder charges following a shots-fired incident Sunday morning near Lyell and Plymouth avenues.
First responders were dispatched to the intersection at approximately 10:55 AM after receiving reports of gunshots in the area.
Initial searches did not locate an immediate victim, though officers quickly secured physical evidence confirming multiple rounds had been fired.
During a canvass of the surrounding area, Rochester Police officers and New York State Troopers spotted and stopped a 41-year-old Rochester resident carrying a handgun.
Following further investigation, police located an involved victim and confirmed that the individual was not struck by the gunfire.
The 41-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident and faces several felony charges, including:
* Attempted Murder in the Second Degree
* Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (2 counts)
* Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree
