Local organizations and sponsors host Give Back Community Day & Book Bag Drive on Lake Avenue
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Neighborhood families and students gathered at 1001 Lake Avenue today for the "Give Back Community Day & Book Bag Drive," a free community event hosted from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM to help prepare local youth for the upcoming school year.
Organized through a collaborative effort involving Face the Odds, Exploration Elementary Charter School for Science & Technology, Hooked, Sweet Ida Mae's Pantry, 44 Sweete, Brothers Gift Shop, and WDKX 103.9, the event offered a wide range of free services and activities for children and families.
Attendees at the community event were provided with:
* Free book bags packed with school supplies distributed on a first-come, first-served basis
* Free haircuts and hair styling services for local youth
* Complimentary food, drinks, and refreshments
* Family-friendly entertainment, including bounce houses and face painting
Organizers emphasized that the initiative was designed to foster community unity while supporting local families with essential resources as students head back to the classroom.
