ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A chaotic, high-stress pursuit wound through city streets before coming to a safe conclusion on Lyell Avenue, highlighting the seamless teamwork and dedication of local law enforcement agencies.
The incident began when a suspect fled from authorities, triggering a fast-moving response from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police. As the suspect attempted to evade capture, they drove recklessly, crashing into multiple civilian vehicles and nearly striking deputies who were working on the ground to intercept the vehicle.
To ensure public safety and maintain constant visual contact, a New York State Police helicopter was deployed to track the suspect from above. The air crew provided critical, real-time updates to ground units, allowing them to coordinate their movements effectively in a high-pressure environment.
Leveraging this aerial intelligence, deputies and troopers successfully boxed the suspect's vehicle in on Lyell Avenue, safely ending the pursuit and taking the individual into custody without further incident.
Following the arrest, emergency crews quickly worked to clear the multi-car wreckage and debris from the roadway. Thanks to the rapid and highly professional response of all agencies involved, Lyell Avenue has since been completely reopened, and traffic is flowing normally.
Charges against the suspect are currently pending as the investigation continues.
