Rochester firefighters contain afternoon house fire on Sixth Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a residential structure fire on Sixth Street at approximately 2:30 PM today.
First-arriving fire companies encountered smoke and active flames concentrated at the rear of the residence. Firefighters quickly stretched hose lines to the back of the building to initiate an aggressive attack, knocking down the blaze before it could spread throughout the home or damage adjacent structures.
Search teams swept the property, and fire officials confirmed that no injuries were reported among residents or responding personnel.
Crews remained on scene to vent smoke from the structure, check for hidden hot spots, and secure the building.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under active investigation by fire investigators.
