Two men hospitalized following back-to-back shootings near Monroe Avenue and Woodlawn Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police officers are investigating a pair of overnight shootings that left two men wounded near the intersection of Monroe Avenue and Woodlawn Street early Wednesday morning.


Shortly after midnight, police units responded to reports of gunfire on Woodlawn Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported him to a nearby hospital, where officials confirm he is expected to survive.


At approximately 1:20 AM, while officers were on scene processing evidence and investigating the initial shooting, gunfire was heard immediately to the east near Monroe Avenue and Woodlawn Street.


Police subsequently confirmed that a second victim, a 36-year-old man, was shot on Monroe Avenue. He was transported to a local hospital via private vehicle and is also expected to make a recovery.


Investigators have not yet determined whether the two incidents are directly related. No suspects have been taken into custody at this time, and both investigations remain active.
